Dr. Carlo Bongioanni, Legal Representative

Carlo Bongioanni was born in Rome in 1980. He graduated in Telecommunication Engineering in May 2006 and received the Ph.D. degree in Remote Sensing in April 2010, both from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The Ph.D. thesis is titled "Multichannel Passive Radar: signal processing and experimental prototype development". From June to September 2006 he was involved on behalf of the INFOCOM Dept. (Univ. of Rome) in the Galileo Test Range program with Thales Alenia Space (former Alcatel Alenia Space). In November 2006 he joined the RRSN Group at the INFOCOM Dept., now DIET (Univ. of Rome) as Ph.D. student. In May 2007 he joined the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology). From 2009 he is charter member and legal representative of the academic spin-off SYMPAS S.r.l. (SYstems for Monitoring, Positioning and Advanced Sensing). From 2011 to 2018 he was Research Associate at the RRSN Group of the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (DIET), University of Rome “La Sapienza”. His main research interests are in Passive radar systems based on different waveforms of opportunity, such as FM radio signals, Wi-Fi signals, digital-television signals (both terrestrial and satellite-based). In the framework of his research activity, he has been involved in the design, development and field-testing of different experimental demonstrators of Passive radar receivers.

Dr. Marta Bucciarelli, Scientific Area Manager

Marta Bucciarelli was born in Rome in 1981. In December 2003 she graduated cum laude in Communication Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, with a Bachelor thesis on "Two different applications of the chirp signal: spectral analysis and time scaling ". In July 2006 she graduated cum laude in Communication Engineering with a Master thesis on "Wide-band nulling techniques using Tapped Delay Lines " from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where she received the Ph.D. degree in Radar and Remote Sensing in April 2010, with a thesis on "Signal processing techniques for high-resolution multi-channel spaceborne and airborne radar systems". From 2009 she is charter member of the academic spin-off SYMPAS S.r.l. (SYstems for Monitoring, Positioning and Advanced Sensing). In 2010 she received a research contract on “Signal Elaboration techniques for mono or multistatic radars with long coherent integration time” by DIET Dept. which is part of the Faculty of Information Engineering, Statistics and Informatics. In 2014 she spent a working period at the NATO Science and Technology Organization - Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation as Visiting Scientist in the context of the Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA) project. Now she is the Scientific Area Manager of SYMPAS S.r.l.

Since 2008 she attended as speaker to several conferences related to radars, presenting several of her research results; International Radar Symposium IRS-2008 held in Wroclaw (Polonia) 21- 23 May 2008, IEEE RadarCon 2008 held in Rome (Italy) 26- 30 May 2008, IEEE Radar 2008 held in Adelaide (Australia) 2 - 5 September 2008, EuRAD 2009 held in Rome (Italy) from September 30 to October 2 2009, IEEE Radar 2012, Glasgow (UK) 22 Oct - 25 Oct 2012, IEEE RadarCon 2013, Ottawa (Canada) 29 April - 3 May 2013, MTS/IEEE OCEANS 2015, Genova (Italia), IGARSS 2016, Milano (Italia) . Moreover from 2007 to 2010 she attended summer-shool, tutorials, courses and training software regarding radars.
